The Hope Rig’s first event in downtown Los Angeles at Fred Jordan Missions’ Back To School Event was…awesome!  Mr. Mike and Andy Danger from Harvest Church in Riverside entertained the children and families with singing and dancing, followed by Joe preaching the gospel—and  close to 100 responded to the alter call to receive Jesus!

Children then received new shoes from Footlocker, a new outfit, a new backpack with school supplies, a hair cut from Paul Mitchell School students, a variety of hygiene products from the USC School of Dentistry and a freshly prepared hamburger lunch from In-N-Out Burger, all free of charge!

HOPE RIG D.H.S.

The Hope Rig’s second event, (and it’s first official “church outreach” to help churches reach their local community with the gospel) took place on November 17th in Desert Hot Springs.  We partnered with Grace Church for an evangelistic outreach that was nothing short of…spectacular!  In addition to the other organizations who partnered along with us (including Mega Force Ministries, a mobile dentistry truck, Barego Health Clinic personnel and Teen Challenge representatives), there were 5 bounce houses for the children to play in, face painting stations, clothing from God’s Closet, a Bar-B-Que lunch of hot dogs or hamburgers (plus chips, cookies and drinks), whole turkeys for each family to take home and a free “toy raffle” giveaway, including several new bicycles, new televisions and lots of toys and prizes!

After the food and fun, Steve Carrier from Mega Force Ministries in Dallas, Texas performed his feats of strength by ripping phone books in half, bending frying pans with his bare hands, breaking himself out of police handcuffs and cracking baseball bats in two!  He also shared his amazing testimony of how Jesus set him free and, after inviting the crowd to receive Jesus as Savior, over 120 children and adults responded!

Steve preached during both services the following morning at Grace Church and approximately 50 people responded to the alter call that day!  All in all, the event was a success and many lost souls were reached.
